3 Simple and Affordable Steps to Make Your Small Bathroom Feel More Spacious

Tuesday 27 Nov 2018

Bathrooms, the area in the home that is difficult to work with if the space isn’t there - usually full of awkward layouts and limited lighting. Yet did you know that a well styled bathroom can make a dramatic difference on the sale of your house.

To help you create a brighter and bigger feeling space without the need to pull everything down and start again follow these 3 simple steps.

1. Let There Be Light!

You want to create as much lighting as possible to brighten and lift the room. To do this you will want to look at the natural lighting currently in the room, if you can’t open the windows or remove coverings to reveal natural light then add additional lighting on the walls and ceilings to increase the brightness of the room.

You’ll also want to pay attention to your tile colours and wall colours, if they’re dark and multi-toned this will make the room feel smaller. So splash on some light paint to get the room feeling bigger.

2. De-clutter

Ensure that you’re storage is in line with your walls where possible, anything that obtrudes or sticks out will typically make a bathroom feel more closed in. Install wall mounted shelving or a wall mounted mirror cabinet to reduce unwanted clutter.

 3. Get rid of the bathmat...(hide it)

Bathroom mats, that wet and soggy thing hung over the bath or shower has got to go. Place the bathmat away out of site to expose the flooring as this will make the small space appear larger. (of course put it back when showering).

These three simple changes to your bathroom are all you need to open up the space and make that small room feel large. Try these simple tricks with any room in your house, remember lighting with less clutter makes for open spaces.
